THE MUNICIPAL CHIEF EXECUTIVE OF THE NZEMA EAST MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY ENGAGEMENT WITH SOME KEY STAKEHOLDERS IN AXIM TOWNSHIP.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Nzema East Assembly, Hon. Herbert Kuah Dickson engaged some key stakeholders in the Axim Township on Wednesday, 28th May, 2025 at the Fisheries Commission durbar ground.

The exercise was carried out in collaboration with the Member of Parliament (MP) for Evalue Ajomoro Gwira Constituency, Hon. Kofi Arkoh Nokoe. The Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD) in the person of Mr. Emmanuel K. Asamoah, and Heads of Department (HOD’s) of the Municipal Assembly.

The MCD, Mr. Emmanuel K. Asamoah announced that the purpose of the gathering was to engage the identified key stakeholders for the MCE and the MP to ascertain first-head information concerning developmental issues particularly internally generated fund mobilization in the vicinity and the way forward.

Hon. Kuah Dickson remarked that development in every community boils down to effective engagement with the people to ascertain their concerns and their support towards measures to solve identified challenges. He added that the major challenges of the municipal assembly is the mobilization of revenue to ensure developments of the communities as required by the Local Governance System. The status of the Municipality ascertained goes with a lot of responsibility, which cannot be realized, particularly without strong financial standing.

Hon. Kuah Dickson assured the people that the accrued revenue will be used to undertake developmental projects and solve identified problems in the Municipality. He further drew the attention of the community to the fact that plans are far advanced to used the land claimed from the Sea Defense projects to construct developmental initiatives. Also. It will be ensured that the artisans will make good use of the industrial area facility earmarked for them.

Again, the Assembly will issue identification stickers to vehicles operating under the GPRTU-Axim local, and also regularize the activities of the tricycle operators by providing the operators by providing the operators with uniforms, identification stickers and collaborating with the drivers and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) – Axim branch to issue licenses to all qualified riders.

In attendance were the members of the Traditional Council for Lower Axim Traditional Area, Association of chief fishermen, Executives of Ghana Road and transport union-Axim local, Tailors and Dressmakers Association, Market Women, Tricycle Operators Association (keke), Artisan Association of Axim and host of other recognized Associations in the Axim Township.
