COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT ON RESPONSIBLE COOPERATIVE MINING AND SKILLS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME (RCOMSDEP).

The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Herbert Kuah Dickson and a delegation from the RCOMSDEP led by Alhaji Sadick engaged the chiefs and people of Akango and Duale communities on the President’s initiative on responsible mining to combat illegal mining and its associated effects on the environment.

The MCE mentioned that fifty two (52) acres of land had been allocated from the concession of Adamus Resource Mining Company with a site plan properly done for the programme. The Deputy National Coordinator for rCOMSDEP, Alhaji Sadick also explained that the programme will employ the youth and small-scale miners in the initiative while vocational and skills training will be provided for women and others to promote sustainable livelihood. As part of preparations towards the enrolment of rCOMSDEP, the communities engaged were entreated to form a fifteen (15) member committee who will manage the programme on behalf of the people.
