The Nzema East Municipal Assembly orgainsed an Inception Meeting on the road map for Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Master Plan Preparation on Friday, 10th May, 2024. The objective of this programme was to engage key stakeholders in order to disseminate information on the project as well as obtain their support. Participants in this programme include Assembly Members, representative of Traditional Authorities, Persons with Disabilities, Water Management Committees, Market Women, Religious Leaders, Private Water Service Providers, Private Toilet Services Providers, Waste Management Companies, Youth Groups and Media. Also present at programme were officials from the National Development Planning Commission and the Western Regional Coordinating Council.
The Assembly is a beneficiary of the National Development Planning Commission and Ministry of Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development collaboration which seeks to assist selected Metropolitan, Municipal, District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the country to prepare WASH Strategic Master Plan (2025-2030). This is to help respective MMDAs to obtain a comprehensive WASH master plan for the allocation of resources to WASH activities and also to attract investors to improve water sanitation and hygiene sector in the municipality towards the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6 which is to ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all by 2030.
