The Municipal Planning Coordinating Unit organized its First Quarter meeting on Wednesday, 25^th February, 2026 at the Assembly’s Conference Room. The meeting discussed the draft 2025 Annual Progress Report (APR) and validated the core and Municipal Indicators. In attendance were the Municipal Coordinating Director, District Manager-GWCL, District Manager-ECG, a Representative from the Lower Axim Traditional Council and Heads of Decentralized Departments in the Municipal Assembly.

A THREE (3) DAY OFFICIAL COMMUNITY VISIT AND SOD CUTTING CEREMONY BY THE MUNICIPAL CHIEF EXECUTIVE.

The Municipal Chief Executive of Nzema East Municipal Assembly, Hon. Herbert Kuah Dickson accompanied by the Member of Parliament for Evalue Ajomoro Gwira Constituency, Hon. Kofi Arkoh Nokoe, Hon. Assembly Members and key staff of the Assembly visited and engaged the chiefs and people of ten (10) communities for engagement and sod cutting ceremony from Tuesday, 20th to Thursday, 22nd January, 2026. The communities visited include; Assuowa and Abakpo, Sentum, Abrodiem, Tumentu, and Wiawso. The rest were Dibolase, Bekwase, Gyampele, Sikaneasem and Kutukrom.

The engagement intends to foster familiarization, ascertain developmental needs and to build closer relationship with the traditional authorities, opinion leaders, youth groups, civil society organizations and community members. The community visitation by the Chief Executive was climaxed with a grand durbar at the Kutukrom durbar grounds for a commemorative sod cutting ceremony for the construction of fourteen (14) infrastructural projects in the Municipality. The grand durbar was chaired by the Paramount Chief of Gwira Traditional Council, Awulae Angama Tu-Agyan.

The sod cutting ceremonies captured the following infrastructural development projects within the year, 2026 with approval from the General Assembly and funding from the Central Government;

1. Construction of 1No. Cassava Processing Factory with 1 No. Mechanized Borehole with overhead tank at Apataim

2. Rehabilitation of 1No. CHPS Compound at Ewuku

3. Construction of 1No. CHPS Compound with Staff Accommodation and landscaping at Tumentu

4. Construction of 1 No. Six (6) Unit Classroom Block with Ancillary facilities at Abrodiem

5. Completion of 1No. Health Center at Assuowa

6. Construction of 1 No. Six (6) Unit Classroom Block with Ancillary facilities at Dibolase

7. Construction of 1 No. Six (6) Unit Classroom Block with Ancillary facilities at Bekwase

8. Construction of 1 No. CHPS Compound with Staff Accommodation at Gyampele

9. Construction of 1 No. Police Station at Kutukrom

10. Construction of 1 No. Zonal Council Office at Kutukrom

11. Construction of 10 No. Mechanized Borehole within the Municipality

The Chiefs and the people were informed that, the Assembly has assigned eight ( of the above listed projects in the Gwira traditional area as a result of lack of infrastructural development in the enclave. He assured the gathering that the contractors for each project had been given eight ( months to complete so that they could be commissioned and handed over to the communities for use.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT, SOD CUTTING CEREMONY AND PROJECT INSPECTION AT APATAIM, EWUKU, AYISAKRO AND NSEIN.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Herbert Kuah Dickson accompanied by the Member of Parliament for Evalue – Ajomoro – Gwira Constituency Hon. Kofi Arko Nokoe and staff of the Assembly on 13th January, 2026 visited four (4) communities in the municipality comprising of Apataim, Ewuku, Ayisakro and Nesin for community engagement, sod-cutting ceremony and inspection of ongoing projects. After their interaction with the people concerning development and other related issues, the MCE and MP, with the support of the traditional authorities of the communities cut sod for cassava processing factory at Apataim and inspected health projects for clinics at Apataim and Ewuku respectively.

NZEMA EAST STAFF DURBAR HELD ON MONDAY, 15TH JANUARY 2026, AT ASSEMBLY HALL.

The Nzema East Municipal Assembly (NEMA) organised staff durbar on Monday, 15^th January 2026 at the Assembly’s Conference Hall. The engagement was chaired by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Kuah Dickson with support from the Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD), Bamutu Saaka. As part of the efforts to work towards to realization of the vision of the Service and that of Nzema East Municipal Assembly (NEMA), the staff were reminded of the Service Protocols as well as positive attitude towards work.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Kuah Dickson, also expressed gratitude and appreciation to the whole staff for hard work and commitment to the Assembly. In attendance were the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), the Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD) and all the Assembly Staff.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Nzema East Municipal Assembly (NEMA), Hon. Herbert Kuah Dickson held a meeting on Thursday, 13th November, 2025 at the Assembly’s Conference Room, Axim.

Consideration and approval were given by the committee on the Draft 2026 Composite Budget, Fee Fixing Resolution and Revenue Improvement Action Plan, Annual Action Plan, 2026-2029 Medium-Term Development Plan (MTDP), Draft 2026 and WASH Master Plan as presented by Municipal Budget Analyst and Municipal Development Planning Officer.

Similarly, reports from the five (5) statutory and two (2) ad-hoc sub-committees comprising of Finance and Administration, Justice and Security, Development Planning, Works, Social services, Sanitation and Health and Agriculture and Fisheries were deliberated. The Executive Committee proposed recommendations to the General Assembly for further consideration and approval.

MCE’S COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AT DOMINASE COMMUNITY ON WEDNESDAY 11TH NOVEMBER, 2025.

The Municipal Chief Executive of the Nzema East Municipal Assembly on Wednesday, 11^th November, 2025 engaged the chiefs and people of Dominase community to express his appreciation for their prayers and support on his appointment. The people through their traditional council outlined the following development concerns to the MCE for consideration by the Assembly; Construction of mechanized borehole, upgrading of their police station with officers, construction of modern market, road and teachers quarters.

The MCE took the opportunity to introduce Namova Ghana Limited which has been assigned to reclaim mined lands through illegal way to the community. He appealed for their support and cooperation to allow the company complete the assigned tasked within the stipulated time period. He also, assured the people that the Municipal Assembly will ensure that their concerns are factored into the Medium Term Development Plan.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT ON RESPONSIBLE COOPERATIVE MINING AND SKILLS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME (RCOMSDEP).

The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Herbert Kuah Dickson and a delegation from the RCOMSDEP led by Alhaji Sadick engaged the chiefs and people of Akango and Duale communities on the President’s initiative on responsible mining to combat illegal mining and its associated effects on the environment.

The MCE mentioned that fifty two (52) acres of land had been allocated from the concession of Adamus Resource Mining Company with a site plan properly done for the programme. The Deputy National Coordinator for rCOMSDEP, Alhaji Sadick also explained that the programme will employ the youth and small-scale miners in the initiative while vocational and skills training will be provided for women and others to promote sustainable livelihood. As part of preparations towards the enrolment of rCOMSDEP, the communities engaged were entreated to form a fifteen (15) member committee who will manage the programme on behalf of the people.

DISBURSEMENT OF ITEMS TO PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES (PWDs) IN NZEMA EAST MUNICIPALITY ON 2ND OCTOBER, 2025.

As part of the Government of Ghana’s commitment to promoting social inclusion and economic empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), the Nzema East Municipal Assembly, through the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development and in consultation with the Disability Fund Management Committee, facilitated the disbursement of various livelihood support items to selected beneficiaries. This initiative was funded under the three percent (3%) District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) allocation for PWDs.

The main objective of the disbursement was to provide tools and equipment to enhance the income-generating capacity of PWDs, and to promote self-reliance and dignity among them.

The following items were distributed to the beneficiaries based on their occupational needs and business interests:

Chest freezers

Roofing sheets

Fufu pounding machines

Sewing machines

Industrial spraying machines

Laptops

Hair dryers

Hand dryers

A total of Forty-five (45) PWDs benefited from the disbursement exercise, including men and women as well as children to engaged in trades such as tailoring, hairdressing, agro-processing, ICT services, and retail business. Beneficiaries were drawn from various communities within the the Twenty-five Electoral Areas within the Nzema East Municipality.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) commended the beneficiaries for their resilience and encouraged them to put the items to productive use. The Member of Parliament for the Evalue Ajomoro Gwira Constituency also the need for collective responsibility, stating that current beneficiaries will not be considered in the subsequent disbursements until every benefit from he fund, the cycle can start again.The Head of the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development emphasized the importance of proper maintenance and follow-up monitoring to ensure sustainability of the support.

The disbursement exercise was successfully conducted and received positive feedback from the beneficiaries. It is expected that the items will contribute significantly to improving the livelihoods of PWDs within the municipality, in line with government’s social protection objectives.
