As part of efforts to carry out President’s directive on a two-day national general cleaning exercise, the Nzema East Municipal Assembly, in collaboration with the Security Services, Ministries, Departments and Agencies, Public Institutions, and the general public, successfully carried out the exercise in the Municipality on Friday, July 10, 2026 and Saturday, July 11, 2026.
The cleaning exercise was held under the theme “Our Actions, Our Future: Cleaning Ghana after the floods”.
The Municipal Chief Executive coordinated the two-day national exercise to mobilize all and sundry to collectively desilt choked gutters to ensure free and uninterrupted waterflow, and to sweep and clear sands, weeds, and debris from major roads and streets. Public spaces such as lorry parks, recreational centers, markets and communal waste collection points were also cleaned.
The Hon. Assembly Members, as part of critical interventions and a wake-up call to mitigate the current flooding experienced in some parts of the Municipality, also carried out similar exercise in their respective electoral areas.
The National General Cleaning Days have renewed mindset and attitudinal change in Nzema East towards indiscriminate littering and plastic pollution, which clog drainage systems and contribute to preventable floods.
