As part of the process of preparing a Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Strategic Master plan Preparation 2025-2030 for the Municipality, the Nzema East Municipal Assembly organised a one-day strategic meeting on Wednesday, 13th November 2024 at the Municipal Health Directorate Conference Room. The session discussed the findings from the data collection on the WASH situation in the Municipality and set out the desired long-term WASH situation in NEMA as well as strategic direction and objective setting. Participants in the programme included the Regional Economic Planning Officer, Regional Environmental Health Officer, Assembly Members, Municipal Planning Coordinating Unit Members, Persons with Disabilities, Water Management Committee, Market Women, Media as well as officials from the National Development Planning Commission.
The Assembly is preparing a Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Strategic Master plan Preparation (2025-2030) with the support of the National Development Planning Commission in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development. The preparation of a comprehensive WASH master plan would provide a complete road map for the allocation of resources to WASH activities as well as attract investors to improve water sanitation and hygiene sector in the Municipality towards the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6 which is to ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all by 2030.
